Product Description

Tube Bundle for Air Cooler, ASME SA179 with Aluminum 1060, Embedded G type Fin tube, Oil Refinery Application

The tube bundle is a key component of an air cooler. It consists of multiple tubes through which the fluid to be cooled flows, and heat is transferred to the surrounding air. Here is an introduction to the tube bundle of an air cooler:

Structure

  • Tubes: Usually made of metal materials such as copper, aluminum, or steel. The tubes are arranged in a specific pattern, such as in-line or staggered. The diameter and length of the tubes can vary depending on the specific requirements of the air cooler. For example, in some small - scale air coolers, the tube diameter may be relatively small, around 10 - 20 mm, while in large - scale industrial air coolers, the tube diameter can be 50 mm or more, and the length can be several meters.
  • Fins: Attached to the outside of the tubes to increase the heat transfer area. Fins can be made of various materials, such as aluminum alloy. Common fin types include straight fins, wavy fins, and pin fins. The fin pitch and height also affect the heat transfer performance. A smaller fin pitch and a higher fin height can increase the heat transfer area, but it may also increase the air resistance.

Types

  • Fixed - tube - sheet tube bundle: The tube ends are fixed on the tube sheet, and the tube sheet is connected to the shell of the air cooler. This type of tube bundle is simple in structure and easy to manufacture, but it is not suitable for occasions where the tube bundle needs to be disassembled for cleaning or maintenance. It is commonly used in some air coolers with relatively clean working media and low - maintenance requirements.
  • U - tube tube bundle: The tubes are bent into a U - shape, and both ends of the tubes are fixed on the same tube sheet. This structure allows the tube bundle to expand and contract freely with temperature changes, reducing thermal stress. It is suitable for applications with large temperature differences. And it is convenient for cleaning and maintenance because the tube bundle can be pulled out of the shell. However, the manufacturing process of U - tube tube bundles is more complex.
  • Floating - head tube bundle: One end of the tube bundle is fixed, and the other end can float freely. This design can effectively compensate for the thermal expansion and contraction of the tube bundle, and is suitable for high - temperature and high - pressure applications. It also facilitates the disassembly and maintenance of the tube bundle. But the structure is relatively complex, and the cost is higher.

Working Principle

The fluid to be cooled enters the tube bundle through the inlet nozzle and flows through the tubes. As the fluid flows, heat is transferred from the fluid to the tube wall. Then, through the fins on the outside of the tube, the heat is further transferred to the surrounding air. The air is usually forced to flow over the tube bundle by a fan or natural convection, which takes away the heat and cools the fluid in the tube bundle.
