ASME SA213 GR.T91 Alloy Steel Seamless Tube Bundle ASME Section VIII Certified

 

YUHONG produce a high-capacity, custom-engineered shell and tube heat exchanger designed for demanding service in the oil and gas industry. Built to the highest standards, including TEMA Class R and ASME Section VIII, Div. 1, this unit exemplifies robust engineering for critical heat transfer applications between process streams. Its primary function is to efficiently recover heat from Atmospheric Residue to preheat Desalted Crude Oil, significantly improving energy efficiency and operational economics in refinery processes.

 

Robust Design and Construction

The heat exchanger is built as a TEMA Type AES (externally sealed floating head) design, which is ideal for applications with a large temperature differential between the shell and tubes, allowing for thermal expansion without stress.

Key design features include:

Tubes:​ 1,250 tubes with an outer diameter of 25.4 mm, arranged on a 31.75 mm 45-degree triangular pitch

Baffles:​ Features segmental cross baffles with a 23% cut and a spacing of 280 mm

Nozzles:​ Equipped with 8" 300# flange connections on the shell side and 10" 300# connections on the tube side

 

High-Grade Materials for Corrosion Resistance

Tubes & Tubesheets:​ Tubes are made from SA 213 Gr.T91, and tubesheets from SA 182 Gr.F91

Shell, Channel, and Covers:​ Constructed from SA 387 Gr.5 Cl.2, a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel

Gaskets:​ All gaskets (shell, tube, and floating head) use Soft Iron filled with Graphite

We installed this heat exchanger at our petrochemical facility in Jubail Industrial City back in March. The ASME VIII-1 certification was non-negotiable for us, and this unit delivered exactly what we needed. The SA516 Gr485 shell material has held up exceptionally well against our high-temperature process streams, even during the peak summer months when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. What impressed me most was the quality of the welding—our inspection team did radiography testing on random seams, and all passed with flying colors. The supplier kept us updated throughout fabrication with photos and progress reports, which built a lot of trust. We've had zero leaks or performance issues since startup. Definitely planning to order another unit for our expansion project next year.

The SA516 Gr485 material is known for its low-temperature toughness, and the vendor confirmed the impact testing met our specifications. Shipping to a remote location is always challenging, but the crating was heavy-duty and protected the unit during the long truck haul.
