Combined Feed Effluent Heat Exchanger (CFE or FEHE) is a critical, high-efficiency unit used in refineries and petrochemical plants (e.g., hydrotreaters, hydrocrackers) to preheat cold reactor feed using hot reactor effluent. By exchanging heat between these streams, they drastically reduce heater energy consumption, enhance energy recovery, and minimize emissions, often allowing for closer temperature approaches (<20℃) compared to traditional shell and tube design.
