Overview

 

Monel 400 Embedded G-Fin Tube is a high-performance heat exchanger tube made from Monel 400, a corrosion-resistant nickel-copper alloy. It features embedded G-type fins mechanically locked into grooves on the tube's outer surface, significantly increasing heat transfer efficiency. This design offers excellent durability, resistance to seawater and chemical corrosion, and is ideal for use in marine, petrochemical, and power generation applications.

 

1. Monel 400:

- Type: A nickel-copper alloy (roughly 67% Ni, 23% Cu)

- Key Properties:

· Excellent corrosion resistance (especially in seawater and acidic environments)

· High strength and toughness over a wide temperature range

· Good resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting

Applications: Used in marine, chemical, and petrochemical industries—particularly in environments involving aggressive fluids like saltwater, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid.

 

 

2. G-Fin (Embedded Fin):

- Design: A type of integral fin tube where metallic fins are embedded into grooves machined into the base tube.

- Manufacturing:

· Grooves are cut into the tube's outer surface.

· Fins (usually of another metal) are inserted and mechanically locked by rolling or compression.

· Purpose:

- Increase the external surface area to improve heat transfer efficiency

- Reduce fouling and promote better cleaning in some applications

We purchased this heat exchanger for a critical amine service in our Texas plant. The ASME VIII-1 stamp gave us the confidence we needed for regulatory compliance. Upon arrival, our third-party inspector did a thorough check—he was impressed by the weld quality and the precise thickness of the SA516 Gr485 shell. It's been running continuously for six months now with zero issues. The documentation package (including material test reports and NDT reports) was complete and well-organized.
