Product Description
Reliable Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger | Fixed, Floating & U-Tube Options | ASME Code Fabrication with Focus on Serviceability & Long Life
Yuhong Group: Heat Exchangers Built for Operational Continuity

Yuhong Group Co., Ltd. engineers thermal equipment that prioritizes long-term reliability and ease of maintenance. Our portfolio includes shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and air coolers, backed by a complete supply of tube bundles, U-tubes, finned tubes, and all associated parts (tubesheets, baffles, heads, nozzles). Whether you need a new unit or a replacement core, we deliver solutions that keep your process running.

Product Philosophy: Design for Reliability, Manufacture for Serviceability

Our industrial heat exchangers are conceived with two guiding principles: minimize unplanned downtime and simplify field maintenance. Every design choice—from tube layout to gasket selection—is made with the end user's operating environment in mind. We offer fixed tubesheet, floating head, and U-tube configurations, each selected based on your cleaning frequency, thermal duty, and access constraints.

Comparison of Heat Exchanger Types and Maintenance Ease
Design Type Maintenance Ease Cleaning Method Typical Application Scenarios
Fixed Tube Sheet Low (tube bundle cannot be removed) Chemical cleaning or tube-side flushing Clean media, no mechanical cleaning required
Floating Head High (tube bundle can be completely removed) High-pressure water jet, mechanical brushing Media prone to scaling, requires regular internal cleaning
U-Tube Medium (tube bundle can be removed, but the U-bend is difficult to clean) Shell-side mechanical cleaning, tube-side chemical cleaning High temperature difference, high pressure on the tube side, shell-side cleaning
Relationship between Materials and Life Cycle Costs

Material selection directly affects the initial investment and long-term operating costs of the equipment. The following are recommended pathways for typical industrial media:

Service Media Economical Solution Long-Life Solution Decision Points
Cooling Water (Closed-Loop Circulation) All Carbon Steel Carbon Steel + Epoxy Coating Carbon steel can last over 15 years with good water treatment
Cooling Water (Open-Loop with Chlorine) 304 Stainless Steel 316L Stainless Steel or Titanium Carbon steel corrosion is accelerated when chloride ions > 200ppm
Steam Condensation (Low Pressure) Carbon Steel Carbon Steel (appropriately increase corrosion allowance) Note oxygen corrosion, deoxygenation required
Process Hydrocarbons (Containing H₂S) Carbon Steel + Anti-Sulfur Treatment Stainless Steel or Alloy Must meet NACE MR0175
Seawater or Brackish Water 90/10 Copper-Nickel Titanium or Super Duplex Steel Copper-nickel is economical, titanium has extremely long life but is expensive
Core Components and Common Failure Modes
Component Main Function Common Failure Modes Preventive Design Measures
Heat Exchanger Tubes Heat Transfer Corrosion, Erosion, Vibration Fatigue Select appropriate materials; inlet anti-impact plate; optimize baffle spacing
Tube Sheet Fixed tubes, pressure bearing Tube hole corrosion, sealing leakage Weld overlay or composite plate; precise grooving; cathodic protection
Shell Encloses the medium Localized corrosion, weld cracking Corrosion allowance; heat treatment to relieve stress
Baffles Flow guidance, support Tube hole wear, loosening Increase thickness; adopt a double baffle design
Gaskets Sealing Aging, extrusion, leakage Select spiral wound gaskets or metal gaskets according to temperature and pressure
Technical Highlights: Design Features to Extend Heat Exchanger Life
  • Pre-reserved location for sacrificial anodes: In seawater or brackish water coolers, even with copper-nickel alloys, pre-reserved mounting holes for replaceable zinc anodes in the tube box or tube sheet effectively protect the tube sheet and tube ends, extending life by more than 30%.
  • Shell-side venting and draining ports: Installing venting and draining valves of DN20 or larger at the highest and lowest points of the shell side during design can completely eliminate air resistance during startup and liquid accumulation after shutdown, avoiding cavitation and dead zone corrosion.
  • Tube Bundle Removal Guide Device: For large floating head heat exchangers, adding slide rails or guide bars inside the shell can significantly reduce mechanical damage to baffles and tubes during tube bundle removal and installation.
Warning Signals During Heat Exchanger Operation (and Countermeasures)
  • Outlet Temperature Deviates from Design Value: If the hot fluid outlet temperature increases (insufficient cooling) or decreases (insufficient heating), first suspect tube bundle scaling or shell-side bypass leakage. Countermeasure: Check for increased pressure drop; plan chemical or mechanical cleaning.
  • Abnormally Increased Pressure Difference Between Tube Side and Shell Side: A significant increase in pressure difference usually indicates blockage in the tube bundle or shell-side channels. Countermeasure: Backflushing or disassembly and inspection.
  • Slight Leakage at Tube Sheet or Shell Flange: This may be due to aging gaskets or loose bolt preload. Countermeasure: Tighten bolts appropriately while hot; if ineffective, replace gaskets. Never tighten under pressure; depressurize according to procedures before operation.
Customized Services: Full-cycle Support
  • Seamless Replacement: Based on on-site surveys or existing drawings, our new heat exchangers or tube bundles are 100% compatible with the original equipment in terms of dimensions, interface orientation, and bolt hole spacing.
  • Performance Upgrade Options: Without changing the shell, by adopting high-efficiency heat exchange tubes (corrugated tubes, finned tubes) or optimizing the baffle layout, the heat exchange capacity of the original equipment can be increased by 20-40%.
  • Spare Parts Package and Emergency Response: We can create a critical spare parts list for your heat exchangers (gaskets, bolts, sacrificial anodes) and promise rapid delivery for urgent orders.
Typical Applications and Selection Recommendations
  • Atmospheric and Vacuum Distillation Units in Oil Refineries: Floating head type, made of carbon steel or chrome-molybdenum steel, is recommended to cope with large temperature differences and media corrosion.
  • Reactor Jackets or Internal Coils in Chemical Plants: U-tube type or fixed tube sheet type is recommended, made of 304/316L stainless steel, meeting cleanliness requirements.
  • Power plant auxiliary equipment cooling: Fixed tube sheet type is recommended, made of carbon steel or stainless steel, with backflushing on the water side.
  • Offshore platform seawater coolers: Floating head or U-tube type is recommended, made of 90/10 copper-nickel or titanium, and must be equipped with sacrificial anodes.

We integrated this into our natural gas processing line. The fixed tube design is very compact and fits our layout perfectly. You can tell the materials are heavy-duty—it handles high pressure without a sweat.

We installed this heat exchanger at our petrochemical facility in Jubail Industrial City back in March. The ASME VIII-1 certification was non-negotiable for us, and this unit delivered exactly what we needed. The SA516 Gr485 shell material has held up exceptionally well against our high-temperature process streams, even during the peak summer months when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. What impressed me most was the quality of the welding—our inspection team did radiography testing on random seams, and all passed with flying colors. The supplier kept us updated throughout fabrication with photos and progress reports, which built a lot of trust. We've had zero leaks or performance issues since startup. Definitely planning to order another unit for our expansion project next year.

Fast delivery and easy install. We scaled up our fertilizer plant and needed a quick turnaround. The lead time was better than expected. Flange alignments were perfect, which made the onsite installation very straightforward.
