Product Description

API660 Shell And Tube Heat Exchanger With ASME U Stamp For Petrochemical After Cooler

Designed for demanding cooling applications in petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas facilities, this shell and tube heat exchanger is manufactured in accordance with API 660 requirements and can be supplied with ASME Section VIII Division 1 U Stamp certification.

As an after cooler, the exchanger is designed to reduce the temperature of process gas, compressed gas or other process media after compression or other high-temperature processes. Depending on the process conditions, the shell side or tube side can be arranged for cooling water, air, hydrocarbons, process gas or other cooling media.

The equipment can be supplied in various configurations, including fixed tubesheet, U-tube and floating-head designs, according to the customer's process requirements and thermal/mechanical design conditions. ASME Section VIII Division 1 Part UHX provides specific rules for U-tube, fixed-tubesheet and floating-head shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

Key Features:

API 660 compliant shell and tube heat exchanger
ASME Section VIII Division 1 U Stamp available
Designed for petrochemical and refinery applications
Suitable for after cooler and process cooling services

We installed this heat exchanger at our petrochemical facility in Jubail Industrial City back in March. The ASME VIII-1 certification was non-negotiable for us, and this unit delivered exactly what we needed. The SA516 Gr485 shell material has held up exceptionally well against our high-temperature process streams, even during the peak summer months when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C. What impressed me most was the quality of the welding—our inspection team did radiography testing on random seams, and all passed with flying colors. The supplier kept us updated throughout fabrication with photos and progress reports, which built a lot of trust. We've had zero leaks or performance issues since startup. Definitely planning to order another unit for our expansion project next year.

The SA516 Gr485 material is known for its low-temperature toughness, and the vendor confirmed the impact testing met our specifications. Shipping to a remote location is always challenging, but the crating was heavy-duty and protected the unit during the long truck haul.

We purchased this heat exchanger for a critical amine service in our Texas plant. The ASME VIII-1 stamp gave us the confidence we needed for regulatory compliance. Upon arrival, our third-party inspector did a thorough check—he was impressed by the weld quality and the precise thickness of the SA516 Gr485 shell. It's been running continuously for six months now with zero issues. The documentation package (including material test reports and NDT reports) was complete and well-organized. Definitely a supplier we'll consider for future expansions.
