Custom Industrial Chemical Reactor Pressure Vessels & Thermal Process Systems

Yuhong Group Co., Ltd. is an integrated manufacturer of heavy pressure equipment, chemical process reactors, and custom heat transfer assemblies. We engineer and fabricate custom industrial pressure vessel reactor units, catalytic reaction vessels, half-pipe coil/limpet jacketed reactors, and high-pressure tubular cores for petro-refining, fine chemical, pharmaceutical, and energy processing installations worldwide.

Operating direct tube mills and heavy vessel manufacturing facilities, Yuhong Group maintains control over raw metallurgy, wall thickness tolerances, and non-destructive examination (NDE). In addition to complete reaction vessels, our engineering expertise encompasses integrated internal heat exchange systems—including high-pressure shell and tube heat exchanger bundles, precision u tube bundle inserts, extended surface finned tube bundle units, and heavy forged heat exchanger tubesheet plates designed to ASME Section VIII Div 1/2 and PED standards.

Reactor Types & Corrosion-Resistant Material Specifications

We engineer custom process reactors matching exact temperature, operating pressure, and chemical compatibility profiles:

  • Half-Pipe Coil / Limpet Coil Jacketed Reactors: Features external semi-circular pipe jackets welded directly to the reactor shell. Ideal for high-pressure thermal media (steam, hot oil) requiring fast heat transfer rates and high structural rigidity.

  • Conventional Dimple & Conventional Jacketed Vessels: Designed for moderate thermal processing duties using cooling water or low-pressure steam recirculation.

  • Tubular Fixed-Bed Catalytic Reactors: Incorporates an internal multi-tube matrix functioning similarly to a shell & tube heat exchanger, holding catalysts within the tubes while shell-side media regulates exothermic reaction temperatures.

  • High-Pressure Autoclave & Agitated Stirred Reactors: Built for severe pressure-temperature duties requiring internal mechanical agitation and anti-corrosive vessel lining.

Material Grades for Corrosive & Extreme Operating Environments:

  • Austenitic Stainless Steels: 304/304L, 316/316L, 321, 347/347H for organic acid, solvent, and chemical processing.

  • Duplex & Super Duplex Steels: UNS S31803 / S32205 (Duplex 2205), UNS S32750 (Super Duplex 2507) for high-chloride, sour gas ($H_2S$), and marine fluid duties.

  • Nickel Alloys & Titanium: Inconel 625, Hastelloy C276, Monel 400, and Titanium Grade 2 for extreme inorganic acid environments.

Essential Reactor Components & Internal Heat Exchange Accessories

Component Engineering Standards & Material Options Technical Role in Chemical Reactor Equipment
Half-Pipe / Limpet Coil Jacket Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel (316L), Alloy 625; Continuous Circumferential Welding Guides heat transfer fluid at high velocities around the outer vessel shell to provide precise reaction thermal control.
Internal Tubular Heating Coils Seamless u tube bundle arrays, helical coils, or straight seamless tubes. Provides additional internal thermal exchange surface area for rapid cooling or heating of high-viscosity reaction fluids.
Heat Exchanger Tubesheet & Baffles Heavy Forged Clad/Solid Alloy Plate; CNC Drilled with Double Serrated Grooves Secures internal heating/cooling tubes within catalytic tube-bed reactors, separating process media from utility streams.
Heavy Forged Flanges & Nozzles ANSI B16.5 / ASME SA105, SA182 Forged Flanges (Class 150 to 2500) Provides pressure-tight connections for chemical feeding, temperature/pressure monitoring sensors, and product outlet streams.
Support Saddles / Skirts / Lug Mounts Heavy Structural Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel Support Structures Anchors the vertical or horizontal reactor vessel securely to foundation civil structures under seismic and wind loads.

Technical Highlights & Manufacturing Standards

  • 100% Full-Penetration Welded Boundaries: All main pressure-retaining seams and limpet coil attachments undergo automated Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) or orbital TIG welding, followed by 100% Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

  • Precision CNC Drilling & Tubesheet Machining: Internal tubular reactor components feature CNC-drilled tubesheet holes with strict tolerances, combined with torque-controlled hydraulic tube expansion to ensure zero joint leakage.

  • Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT): Vessel shells and heavy forged heads undergo stress-relief heat treatment in large-scale furnaces to eliminate residual manufacturing stresses, preventing Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC).

  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Complete reactor vessels undergo Hydrostatic Testing (up to 1.5x design pressure), Pneumatic Leak Testing on jacket coils, Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Positive Material Identification (PMI).

Engineering Guidelines: Crucial Considerations for Reactor Design & Operation

  1. Optimizing Thermal Dynamics in Limpet Jackets: Selecting a 180° half-pipe coil layout increases flow velocity compared to conventional jackets, reducing stagnant fluid film thickness and improving overall heat transfer coefficients during exothermic reactions.

  2. Preventing Thermal Fatigue at Nozzle Joints: Rapid temperature cycling between heating and cooling phases induces cyclic expansion stresses where external half-pipe coils meet the main shell. Utilizing forged transition unions and full-penetration welding prevents fatigue cracking.

  3. Internal Agitation & Baffle Clearance: In stirred-tank reactors, internal flow baffles must be positioned to promote radial mixing without causing localized erosion-corrosion on internal heat exchange tube bundles or vessel walls.

Target Industries & Primary Applications

  • Petroleum Refining: Hydrocracking catalytic reactors, desulfurization units, and alkylation process vessels.

  • Petrochemical & Polymer Production: Ethylene oxide reactors, resin polymerization kettles, and synthetic organic chemical vessels.

  • Fine Chemical & Specialty Processing: Pharmaceutical synthesis kettles, acid neutralization tanks, and dye manufacturing vessels.

  • Energy & Power Generation: Biomass gasification vessels, synthetic fuel converters, and high-pressure steam generation accumulators.

We've been sourcing pressure vessels for 30 years, and this unit's ASME U-stamp certification gave us confidence from day one. The SA516 GR.70 material traceability documentation was impeccable—full MTRs, NDE reports, and third-party inspection by TÜV. Delivery to Houston was 3 weeks ahead of schedule. The 200kL capacity fits perfectly into our hydrocracker expansion project. Weld quality exceeded API 510 standards. Definitely adding this manufacturer to our approved vendor list.

Technical bid included HTRI thermal simulation with fouling factor 0.0002 m²·K/W for our naphtha hydrotreater. SA516 Gr485 + 1.25Cr-0.5Mo tube combination optimized for high-temperature hydrogen sulfide resistance. Delivery EXW Qingdao to CIF Ulsan was 22 days, door-to-door. Zero NCRs during FAT. Korean PM assigned spoke technical English fluently. Already approved for Phase 2 EPC.

This manufacturer understands Middle East requirements. The external insulation supports were pre-designed for 150mm thick calcium silicate—saved us field modification time. They accepted our additional requirement for 100% X-ray on all welds without complaint. The hydrogen partial pressure design of 18 MPa is conservative for our hydrocracker service.
