Product Description
Pressure Vessel Manufacturer for Stripping Column used in distillation and separation processes
Product Description

YUHONG Pressure Vessel: A stripping column is a specialized type of pressure vessel used in distillation and separation processes, particularly in industries like petroleum refining, chemical processing, and natural gas treatment.
Stripping columns are critical pressure vessels used in distillation and separation processes across industries such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, and chemical processing. Their manufacturing involves stringent design, material selection, fabrication, and testing to ensure safety and efficiency under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.

Product Design

Before manufacturing, detailed engineering is performed, including:

Process Design

Determines column diameter, height, tray/packing type, and operating conditions (pressure, temperature, flow rates).

Mechanical Design

Follows ASME BPVC Section VIII (Pressure Vessels) or other standards (PED, API, etc.).

  • Shell thickness calculations
  • Nozzle and support design
  • Stress analysis (FEA if required)
Material Selection

Based on corrosion resistance, temperature, and pressure. Common materials:

  • Carbon steel (SA-516 Gr. 70) for non-corrosive services
  • Stainless steel (SA-240 Type 304/316) for corrosive environments
  • Alloy steels (SA-387 Gr. 11/22) for high-temperature hydrogen service
Fabrication Process
A. Shell & Head Manufacturing
  • Plate Cutting & Rolling: Steel plates are cut (plasma/waterjet) and rolled into cylindrical shells. Heads (dished ends) are formed via hot/cold pressing.
  • Welding (Longitudinal & Circumferential Seams): Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) for thick sections. Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) to relieve stresses.
  • Nozzle & Manway Attachment: Reinforced openings for inlets, outlets, and inspection ports.
B. Internal Components (Trays/Packing Support)
  • Tray Columns: Sieve, valve, or bubble-cap trays are fabricated and installed. Downcomers and weirs are precision-aligned.
  • Packed Columns: Structured or random packing (metal/ceramic/plastic). Liquid distributors and support grids installed.
C. Assembly & Final Welding
  • Shell sections are joined with circumferential welds.
  • Internals are installed, and supports are welded.
  • Lining/cladding applied if needed (for corrosion resistance).
Quality Control & Testing
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
  • Radiography (RT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) for weld integrity.
  • Dye Penetrant (PT) or Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) for surface defects.
Hydrostatic/Pneumatic Testing:
  • Pressurized with water (hydro) or air (pneumatic) to verify strength
Dimensional & Alignment Checks:
  • Ensures trays/packing are correctly positioned.
Surface Treatment & Coating
Sandblasting (SA 2.5) for surface cleaning.
Painting/Coating:
  • Epoxy coatings for corrosion protection.
  • Internal cladding (stainless steel overlay) for harsh services
Final Inspection & Certification
Third-Party Inspection (TPI)

by authorized agencies (TÜV, Lloyd’s, SGS, ABS).

ASME "U" Stamp

(if designed to ASME standards).

Documentation:
  • Material test certificates (MTC)
  • Welding procedure qualifications (WPS/PQR)
  • Pressure test reports
Transportation & Installation
  • Large columns may be shipped in sections and field-assembled.
  • Proper lifting and support to avoid deformation.

The vessel's design pressure of 22 MPa and vacuum capability meet our stringent TÜV requirements. We particularly appreciate the detailed welding procedure specifications (WPS) and the flawless PWHT documentation. The Chinese manufacturer understood our need for precision—tolerances were tighter than ASME VIII Div.1 requirements. The hydrogen service design with stainless steel cladding on wetted surfaces shows they understand high-purity hydrogenation processes. Sehr empfehlenswert.

The QA/QC system is comparable to Japanese pressure vessel manufacturers. We requested additional UT testing on all Category A joints, and they accommodated without delay. The external surface preparation (Sa2.5 blasting + epoxy coating) was executed perfectly for our coastal installation. The 200,000L capacity with such a compact footprint demonstrates excellent engineering optimization. 納期も守られました。Will consider for future LNG pre-treatment projects.

Technical bid included HTRI thermal simulation with fouling factor 0.0002 m²·K/W for our naphtha hydrotreater. SA516 Gr485 + 1.25Cr-0.5Mo tube combination optimized for high-temperature hydrogen sulfide resistance. Delivery EXW Qingdao to CIF Ulsan was 22 days, door-to-door. Zero NCRs during FAT. Korean PM assigned spoke technical English fluently. Already approved for Phase 2 EPC.
