Descripción de producto
ASME U-Stamp Tube Bundle with SA179 Carbon Steel Tubes and SA266 Gr.2N Tube Sheet
Yuhong Group Co., Ltd. is a leading Chinese enterprise specializing in the design and supply of high-quality heat exchange equipment, pressure vessels and related components. Our product range includes shell-and-tube heat exchangers, air coolers, as well as tube bundles, U-tubes, finned tubes and all supporting parts such as tube sheets, baffles, covers and flanges.
Product Description
ASME U-Stamp certified Tube Bundle complying with ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1 is a pre-assembled unit ready for installation into heat exchanger or condenser shells. The product fully conforms to ASME Section VIII Div. 1 and TEMA standards. Its design enables stable operation at temperatures up to 400 °C and pressures up to 206.8 bar (3000 psi) in non-corrosive and mildly corrosive media.
Main Components and Materials
The bundle consists of two core components manufactured in accordance with stringent standards.
Component Material per ASME Key Characteristic
Heat exchanger tubes SA179 (ASTM A179) Cold-drawn seamless low-carbon steel tube for heat exchangers
Tube sheet SA266 Gr.2N Normalized forged carbon steel
Material Technical Parameters & Chemical Requirements
Parameters SA179 SA266 Gr.2N
Tensile strength ≥ 325 MPa 485–655 MPa
Yield strength ≥ 180 MPa ≥ 250 MPa
Elongation ≥ 35% ≥ 20%
Chemical composition SA179 SA266 Gr.2N
Carbon (C) 0.06 – 0.18% ≤ 0.30%
Manganese (Mn) 0.27 – 0.63% 0.40 – 1.05%
Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035% ≤ 0.025
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035% ≤ 0.025
Silicon (Si) / 0.15 – 0.35%
Quality Control and Testing
Every tube bundle undergoes mandatory tests in compliance with ASME requirements prior to shipment.
Type of Test Method / Standard Inspection Purpose
Hydrostatic test In accordance with ASME Section VIII UG-99 Check the tightness of tube-to-tube sheet joints
Mechanical testing of tubes Tensile test, flattening test, expanding test Verify mechanical properties of SA179 material
Destructive testing of welds Visual and dimensional inspection Inspect the quality of rolling and welding joints
Hardness inspection HRB ≤ 72 (for SA179) Ensure no excessive work hardening of the metal
Material inspection (NDE) UT, PT as required Detect surface defects on tube sheets
Application Fields
  • Petroleum refining: Condensers, feed water heaters, oil gas coolers.
  • Petrochemical industry: Heat exchange equipment for service in environments free of severe hydrogen sulfide corrosion.
  • Power industry: Steam turbine condensers, district heating water heaters.
  • General industry: Compressor stations, heat recovery systems, boiler houses.
Important limitation: SA266 Gr.2N is not recommended for direct service in acidic media (high H₂S content without inhibitors) and aggressive chlorides unless additional coating or cladding is applied.
Technical Advantages & Services
  • ASME U-Stamp: Valid for equipment installation in the USA and Canada without additional inspections. The certificate is valid for 3 years with mandatory AIA audits.
  • SA179 Tube: Post final cold drawing, heat treatment at 650 °C (1200 °F) eliminates residual stress.
  • SA266 Gr.2N (normalized): Higher impact toughness and uniform microstructure compared with hot-rolled metal.
  • Tube fixing by welding or rolling: Joining methods are selected according to design pressure (mechanical rolling, seal welding or a combination of both).
  • Customization: Full-cycle manufacturing, from TEMA-compliant hole pitch design to finish machining of mating surfaces for any shell.
Frequently Asked Questions
  • «Is ASME SA179 the same as ASTM A179?»
Yes. ASME SA179 is fully harmonized with ASTM A179 and approved for application under Section VIII. The only difference is in the scope of approval documents and inspection requirements.
  • «Can SA266 Gr.2N be used at temperatures above 400 °C?»
Technically, the steel maintains its strength up to approximately 540 °C. For long-term operation above 400 °C, ASME recommends SA266 Gr.3 or chromium-molybdenum alloy steels (e.g. SA387 Gr.11).
  • «Can I order a tube bundle assembled with tube sheets but without the shell?»
Yes. Yuhong Group supplies tube bundles as standalone products for replacing worn parts on in-service equipment.
  • «Is welding between tubes and tube sheets mandatory?»
No, provided the pressure does not exceed the design limit for mechanical rolling. Three standard connection methods are available: rolling only, rolling plus seal welding, and pressure-type welding for assemblies prone to flange leakage.
  • «What is the custom production lead time?»
45 to 150 days, depending on product complexity and order quantity. Global delivery is available with certifications including BV, DNV, PED, ABS and more.
