Product Description
Custom ASME VIII Carbon Steel Pressure Vessels for Sour Service Oil & Gas Applications
Overview

We engineer and manufacture high-integrity ASME Section VIII Division 1 U-Stamped carbon steel pressure vessels specifically for sour service environments in the oil and gas sector. Designed to resist wet H₂S damage, such as Hydrogen-Induced Cracking (HIC) and Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC), these vessels ensure long-term mechanical reliability in demanding upstream processing, refining, and gas treatment facilities.

Major Components, Material Standards & Grades

To withstand wet sour environments, every pressure-retaining component complies strictly with ASME Section VIII, Div 1 and NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 standards:

  • Shell & Formed Heads: ASME SA-516 Grade 70 (HIC-tested / Vacuum Degassed Carbon Steel Plate). Thicknesses: 10 mm to 100+ mm.
  • Nozzles & Shell Flanges: ASME SA-105N or ASME SA-350 Grade LF2 Class 1 (Normalized / Quenched & Tempered forged carbon steel).
  • Seamless Piping & Tubes: ASME SA-106 Grade B or SA-333 Grade 6 (Normalized seamless carbon steel pipe).
  • Internal Components & Tube Sheets: ASME SA-516 Gr. 70 or SA-105N with optional anti-corrosion overlays.
Testing & Quality Assurance

Quality control follows rigorous ASME and NACE testing protocols:

Inspection / Test Type Standard & Requirement Acceptance Criteria
HIC / SSC Resistance NACE TM0284 / NACE TM0177 Zero cracks (CLR/CTR/CSR per spec)
Impact Testing ASME Sec VIII Div 1 Charpy V-Notch -29°C to -46°C per Design Temp
Non-Destructive Examination ASME Sec V (100% RT / UT on welds) UW-51 / UW-52 Compliance
Post-Weld Heat Treatment ASME Sec VIII Div 1 (PWHT) Full stress relief (595°C-650°C)
Hydrostatic Test ASME Sec VIII Div 1 UG-99 1.3 × Maximum Allowable Working Pressure
Applications & Operating Conditions
  • Applications: Sour Gas Separators, Amine Absorbers, Knock-Out Drums, Filter Separators, Hydrotreater Surge Vessels.
  • Operating Conditions: Pressures up to 25 MPa (250 bar); design temperatures from -46°C to 350°C; sour environments containing up to 100% H₂S partial pressure.
Technical Highlights & Customization

Our engineering capability covers complete thermal-hydraulic and mechanical design. Every sour service vessel is delivered with full material traceability and complete NDT documentation. We integrate custom nozzle configurations, internal baffles, and mist eliminators directly into your skid-mounted modules.

Using this reactor for our green hydrogen ammonia pilot project. The 200,000L capacity gives us good scale-up data for commercial facilities. Australian Standards AS1210 compliance was verified by local inspection body—no issues. The vendor's familiarity with high-purity hydrogen service (99.999%) was evident in the material selection and cleaning procedures. Delivery to Port of Newcastle was well-coordinated. Responsive team, professional documentation.

The vessel's design pressure of 22 MPa and vacuum capability meet our stringent TÜV requirements. We particularly appreciate the detailed welding procedure specifications (WPS) and the flawless PWHT documentation. The Chinese manufacturer understood our need for precision—tolerances were tighter than ASME VIII Div.1 requirements. The hydrogen service design with stainless steel cladding on wetted surfaces shows they understand high-purity hydrogenation processes. Sehr empfehlenswert.

The QA/QC system is comparable to Japanese pressure vessel manufacturers. We requested additional UT testing on all Category A joints, and they accommodated without delay. The external surface preparation (Sa2.5 blasting + epoxy coating) was executed perfectly for our coastal installation. The 200,000L capacity with such a compact footprint demonstrates excellent engineering optimization. 納期も守られました。Will consider for future LNG pre-treatment projects.
